Jerry Garcia on October 19, 1971 - 50 years ago! The Grateful Dead and The New Riders of the Purple Sage played at Northrup Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus that day. My brother got in early and took photos of the Dead crew setting up and the bands during sound check. At one point, early on that afternoon, Garcia was the only one on stage tuning up his Emmons steel. Photo by Denny Schwartz. |

The first time I saw him play the Emmons was at The Fillmore West in San Francisco. He played it with the Rowan Brothers, then with the New Riders, and the Dead was the headliner. A whole night of Jerry. It don't get much better than that. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Was listening to Working Man's Dead today on Dwight's Bakersfield Beat on Sirius, such great steel from Jerry! _________________ Regards, Craig
