If you have a spare $100,000 - $150,000 on hand you might enjoy owning the first Gibson Les Paul ever manufactured.
The official Christie's auction webpage is labeled "A SOLID-BODY ELECTRIC GUITAR KNOWN AS NUMBER ONE LES PAUL MODEL ARTIST'S PROTOTYPE". Believe it or not the webpage has a lot of good reading. https://www.christies.com/lot/lot-6338680?ldp_breadcrumb=back&intObjectID=6338680&from=salessummary&lid=1 _________________ Remembering Harold Fogle (1945-1999) Pedal Steel Player

Yoiks! Somebody wanted that guitar really bad. Looks like it included one of Les Paul's Ampex console tape recorders and the bar stool he used during his stint at Fat Tuesdays. |

Yeah, I quit bidding somewhere around $835,000... It needed a fret job and the the pots were a little scratchy! _________________ blah, blah, blah.

In my limited understanding, Gibson refused to put a Gibson Logo on the first Les Paul's.
Somewhere it is written that the conversation included , "What are we going to call this thing?", and the answer was Les Paul.
