I have my pedal action on my Sho-Bud Pro 111 set for longer travel but a very soft action. It's the way I prefer it and I am used to it. However, when friends have played my guitar they either love it or hate it. I can get half notes easily, but my friends who are used to heavier pedal actions struggle to accurately feel half notes through the pedals. Anyone else use a soft action?

I like the soft feel on pedals/Kl'ers. I get my different types of phrasing and feel with the right hand usually.

Hi Ken, on my "Bud" the one you know that's being ressurected, I always had a long but soft travel, same as you. Great for the half pedal. My "Bud" is a pro 11, and I think the mechanics and materials used were better than the models "after" your pro 111, when knee levers broke off etc etc. The action on my Carter is soft, but not as much a long travel as the Bud. I think I just need someone to set it up correctly. Any ideas Ken? around my area or not too far from Gloucestershire? A mechanically minded person, I've "never" been on steels

My pedal action seems to have mysteriously softened somewhat after the last time I tweaked things under there. I'm getting used to it now although at the time I didn't like it at all.
There was no way I was trying to set it back!
It's a custom refit that was done befor I bought it and (as they guy I bought it from described it) it's a bit "Heath Robinson" under there. An interesting mix of barrel tuners and end post nuts. Tweak one thing and it affects everything else .

I just have to pay more attention to my heavy feet now. Suddenly I'll find things sounding a little flat and I discover I'm pressing the A pedal without realising.

I like soft and short travel. My ZUM is able to give me that feel. With long travel if I try to play one pedal, I find myself slightly on the next pedal. Everybodys ankles are a little different.

Push/Pull firm action. I really don't like soft action.

My SuperPro is soft... my p/p is hard. I like 'em both.

I mod my steels to have a soft feel, with a short stroke, courtesy of long helper springs, usually located under the keyhead area, where there is more room.
Another reason not to go keyless
