I tried to put new volume and tone pots in my Goodrich model 4A Matchbox. They were full-sized pots, so I had to reconfigure things to fit them in the box, and I screwed something up. Like many old steel players, I have no skill with electronics but own a soldering iron so I'll attempt almost anything. Can anybody share a schematic for that unit? I've spent an hour searching online and can't find anything. Many thanks for any assistance you can lend. |

You didn't say what model. I don't have a schematic but own some matchboxes and could take pictures and send them. Each model may be different. Plus you will get more information if you put this on the Electronics column. |

Here's the schematic for a Model 7A, but I don't know how much your Model 4A might be different.

I have a long body model 2B which has the small vol and tone pots on both ends. Same size as your 4A. I'd also be most happy to diagram and/or take some photos of the innards if you think they would be helpful.
I think the pot wiring is very similar among most of these models provided they have the same controls, etc. |

Mike, thank you for the schematic and they do look quite similar so I think it might help.
Jerry, I'll give it a whirl based on the schematic but I may ask you for pictures in a few days if I don't succeed. Thank you so much for offering that.
You guys both have a great day! |
