What is the body dimensions of a GFI Ultra SD-10? (Expo may be the same).

Looking at pictures on the GFI site, it looks like the SD10 is not as wide as a D-10?

I have the D-10 dimensions, 32 1/4 X 11. (I just sold an Ultra D-10).

Jack, my Ultra SD10 4x5 is 32 1/4X 9 3/4. It's a 2021 model. So that confirms your D10 was wider.

Thanks, Larry. That confirms what I suspected.
I have a new SD on order.

That's great Jack. Hope you get it soon. What pickup did you choose? Mine has the GFI III. Decent sounding pickup but I got a 705 to try next string change. It may not be much different, I just like their tone.

GFI II. I had an S-10 Expo with the II and didn't sound bad. I considered a L710, and Bob said he could get one if I wanted it, but I'll see how this sounds with the II.

I needed to track steel for a recording and my Franklin (with 710's) was set up at Church. I used the Expo knowing if I didn't like it I could redo it later with the Franklin. As it turned out the steel track with the Expo was a keeper and sounded very close to other Franklin steel tracks.

I put L710's on the D-10 Ultra I had but when I got it, it had a damaged E66 on the E9th and a II on the C6th. I was just going to replace the E66 but replaced both to keep them the same.

I like the 710 too. If this 705 doesn't make me happy I will get 710s. I have an E66 to try if I want. The E66 on my Derby sounds great.

Larry, it will be a while until I get it. Bob said they are busy with orders. Probably at least 6 weeks.

Bob doesn't actually use the term SD-10 himself. He calls it Single 10 w/pad. (S-10 P); Because the body is not a full double neck body, but a single neck body with about 3/4 of the width of a second neck extra where the pad is mounted. Everyone else ends up calling it a GFI SD-10 for convenience. Its kind of an optical illusion, it looks like an SD-10 .... but Bob is right, its not a true SD-10.

Yes, that's more exact. The U is just for Ultra, I think. and P for "with Pad".

Jack, did you order direct from GFI or go through a dealer?

Direct. I had been corresponding with Bob with questions and after deciding I ordered direct. I may pick it up as I need to make a trip to Kansas City in the next couple months (I used to live there).
