Sorry to hear this.
He built a fine guitar.
This is the Rains I now own, a true work of art.

This is very sad news. I never met him, but I own SN0017 black SD-10. His legacy will live on through the wonderful guitars that he meticulously built.
RIP Mr. Rains. _________________ Bad wine is better than no wine. |

I agree with all Danny said. Bobby gave me my first steel lesson many years ago. Still wish I could play like that guy. My condolences and prayers go out to Juanita. They have been great friends a long time. |

My condolences to Juanita, Larry and the family. Bobby was a fine player and builder. He encouraged many in our quest to play the steel guitar. RIP |

Bobby and I were very close.
I reped for Bobby and his guitars for nearly three years.
I carried his guitars all over the USA, displaying their wonderful tone and playability.
Bobby built a great pedal steel guitar.
I spent a lot of time with him and Juanita over the years. Bobby was a wonderful Father, Husband, and friend as well, to many people. He is already missed very much.
Rest in peace my dear friend, I'll be seeing you. _________________ Email: azpedalman@gmail.com

I purchased a RAINS guitar from Bobby in 2006 and still play it daily. Best guitar I have ever owned. Bobby was a really nice person.

I used to go hear him at a club in Niles CA called Niles country. He was a great picker. I never knew that he built the Rains guitar. We lost a good one. |

Practical mechanical genius. Spent many hours at Bobby and Juanitas home. Bobby taught me a TON. Great friend. Will be missed.

I got a PM from Shorty Rodgers but I couldn't answer it under reply but You're right Shorty. Bobby Black did play at Niles but Bobby Rains played there also. Bobby Black replaced me and Bobby Rains replaced him. I knew all those guys because I was there. In fact, it seemed like I was always there because it was one of my favorite places to go, even when I wasn't working. My brother was Harold Riley so I knew a lot of the people that he knew. |
