Hi team,
I am new to this, having played saxophone for many years. I was offered a Teisco SW steel guitar and bought it, are there anyone who knows this model ?

Kind regards
Bo

Teisco was a Japanese manufacturer. They made a lot of different models of lap steels in the 50's 60's. Both 8 and 6 string models. If you could post a pic that would be a big help.
BTW...welcome to Forum.

Well, it's definitely a Teisco. Has the old swan logo which puts it pre 1964. Looks original bridge nut tailpiece etc.
I am just a curious about what you have going on around the 19th fret.?? Looks like an old Hawaiian flats style bar stuck up under the strings. For what reason ___________??
Better condition than most that I have seen. I'll look through a few of the forums when I get a chance. We have members here (Noah Miller comes to mind) that know a lot about old lap steels. Hope one of them will chime here.
Gary

Hi Gary,

It was for sale on the internet on a local sales forum. It had belonged to a musician that played saxophones and Hawaii guitar, when he died it was inherited by a family member who had it lying on top of a shelf for 20 years.
It is an old Hawaii bar that is on the 19th. fret, most likely placed there not to loose it. I have removed it now and removed the last dust.
Now I am awaiting new strings and a wire so I can test play it.

Thank you for your help, kind regards
Bo

Good deal. Decide what tuning, get those strings and get rid of that Hawaiian Bar...LOL Bullet bar best for most styles. Stevens or Scheerhorn for rock / Blues. Scheerhorn is my preference for blues stuff. Extended edge makes pull offs much cleaner
C6 has the most instructional material readily available that I know of. A6 for Western Swing G or D for rock or blues.... some E or E7, E9
Good Luck and have fun.
Gary

Looks like it’s in very good condition. Welcome to the forum. You’ll find a bunch of tunings, and a few tuning suggestions for starting out, on my tunings database web page,
