I believe this is Dicky. How is he doing this trill type thing right at the beginning and again again around the 1:15 mark:

Sat down and tried to figure it out and couldn’t get remotely close.

He definitely played on her recordings. I believe they were related.

I'm not at a guitar currently, but it sounds like he is droning an open string along with that 2 fret back and forth move.

Now that I've sat at a guitar, I take my open string drone comment back. They are in E and he's playing that intro to the 5 (B) on strings 3 and 5, frets 5, 6, 7 and then playing 3 and 4 at fret 7, then 5 at fret 7, slide back 2 frets as you engage the A pedal letting string 5 ring, then 3 and 4 at fret 5. Then string 5 at fret 5, A pedal engaged, as you start to slide back to fret 7, with 5th string ringing, let off the A pedal.

String 5 stays at the same note and the reason, at least I think the reason, it sounds like a drone is he was very accurate in keeping that note the same based on when he engaged and disengaged his A pedal.

I've played that lick before but I'm definitely not as accurate as Dickey in that my 5th string note isn't always 100% the same.

I guess that's the difference in a true master and a wanna be. The wanna be is me Smile

Hope that helps, that is what I'm hearing.

What Andy said.

Looks like I tabbed that lick out about 11 years ago (or one that's similar... It's a different song, but same idea):
