I repositioned my reverb unit from the horizontal position to the vertical position to reduce the humm created by the power amp.
I now understand it is not wise to mount a horizontal reverb in the vertical position because of the spring positioning in the transducers.

Has anyone repositions their reverb unit to reduce the humm?

I tried adding reverb to a blackface Bassman head and found, of course, that Leo had it right when he made the reverb heads freakishly tall... no substitute for distance between the power transformer and reverb pan.

That said, if the reverb sounds OK, run with it. The pans were available to be hung both horizontally and vertically, as you've found... but I haven't heard much difference. If it sounds OK, run with it!
