Anybody here a fan of Ruston Kelly's music? His dad, TK Kelly, plays the steel on all of his recordings and tours live. I've just recently started playing, and TK's playing has been a huge inspiration to me. I would love to play in his style, any recommendations on how to best pursuing playing this style?

Great solos starting at 2:23 and 3:49. |

There's a lot of processing on those steel parts, maybe some double-tracking too. I can kinda-sorta get in the neighborhood with the "PitchReverseEcho" program on my ancient Alesis Quadraverb into an (almost-as-ancient) Alesis 3630 limiter. Don't know the values in that program, but it does have chorus and 500msec delay, one repeat. Amp settings are heavy on the high and low end,not much mids. |

Is mid-scooping typical for steel recordings? |

I love Ruston Kelly’s songwriting and so cool that his dad is on the recordings and in the band! _________________ Sierra Session U12, Milkman 1/2, Goodrich Omni, Divine Noise Cables, BJS, Solid cosmic gold, baby 👶🻠|
