acquired an old horseshoe pickup oahu. scale length 25 3/4" 38? i would like to set it up for e major, e7, c#minor tunings as is in the jerry byrd steel course.looks like he uses strings set 42-34-30-19-17-15 for a tuning to start. looks like e major, e7, c#minor can be tuned using the same string set you start out with. but i also would like to play the c#m9 tuning he lists on the same guitar. he notes you will have to change the 6 & 5 string to lighter strings 34 & 30.so using the gauges to start with & adding the lighter gauges on the bottom looks like 34-30-30-19-17-15. would that work or not? tweek for 25 3/4" scale?

I'd be tempted to try something like 38 - 32 for the 6 and 5 strings, and see how that works for all of the above tunings. You will probably do some trial and error to get the right feel for the scale length anyways.

Nice looking Oahu, by the way.

Very cool Oahu! This chart gets posted up here a couple times a year and is a great place to start.
