I am lucky to have as a PSG mentor Ed Bates, a masterful player from Melbourne, Australia. I am also fortunate that we both regularly use the Sibelius scoring program. Our process is that I will write an arrangement and send it to him for comment and criticism and he returns various edits that help me develop my thinking. With his permission, I have attached the following examples of some products of this process that may be useful to others.

My arrangement of ‘Abide with Me’ is based on the harmony that appears in the standard Ancient and Modern Hymnbook, as is his first edit. These arrangements are for E9 with a set up of 3 pedals and 5 levers. A couple of splits are employed and are designated as ‘A/Bb’ which is A pedal with the vertical lever on my Rittenberry. The other is ‘B/F#’, being B pedal with LKL two semitones tone down on my setup.

Ed’s second arrangement is for a simpler copedent using 2 pedals and two levers and he has adjusted the original harmony accordingly.

I hope these are of interest.
