What is the best replacement speaker for a Peavey Nashville 400? The original 1501 BW are almost impossible to find. I need something that will work that is brand new. Thanks |

There are several Eminence speakers people use in the Peavey amps.
If you want a Black Widow 1501, I have one for sale in the classifieds with a like new basket. It's a little pricey admittedly, but it's in perfect shape. |

I was looking to cut down on weight on my 400, so I replaced my 1501 with a 7 lb. Eminence eps 15c. (now discontinued) I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd one to replace the Delta Lite in my Evans. Because of the pandemic, I never got to try it on a gig. I sold the 1501 along with the 400. I still have the eps 15 and don't need it. $125.00 plus shipping if you're interested. |

I replaced the BW in mine with a 4-ohm 'Sica' 15", (basically the same speaker that Ken Fox used in his steel amps). Sounds very similar to the stock speaker but weighs around half as much. Have a spare that is currently mounted in a rarely used extension cab if you are interested. |

Doin a little research on that speaker, it sounds like a perfected design. My Session 400's BW is givin out and i'm debating what to throw in it. These are sounding pretty promising. What's your review? _________________ 1966 EMMONS S-10 Bolt On Push-Pull |

A JBL D-140 is an exceptionally good replacement. They don't command the high prices that D-130's command and there are usually more for sale in better condition. The D-140 shares the same frame and magnet with the D-130. The D-140 has a slightly heavier cone and no aluminum dust cap. Both those differences benefit a PSG through the Nashville 400 in my opinion and the tone through the frequency range is very well balanced. Reverb sounds excellent and there is no harshness when you turn up the treble. A match made in heaven!
P.S. The D-140 has a very heavy Alnico magnet which is extremely desirable in improving the musicality of the rig but may be a burden to move if you are not physically strong. There are other 15" Alnico speakers on the market that might also work nicely in a PSG amp. Probably nothing currently in production is as good as a D-130 or D-140 but I'd be really curious to hear one of these in a Nashville 400:

I did exactly that. Got a screamin deal workin with Dale Rottacker for the 400 and eventually the TT-15 that went in it. Had Bruce at Brown Dog Amps in Poulsbo, WA get everything wired up, upgraded and replaced power caps, did a tone mod, and a few other upgrades. This amp is perfect now! Just waiting to get my PSG back now to run through it while I have Bruce go through my Hot Rod Deluxe III, speaker swap and upgrade everything within it as well. _________________ 1966 EMMONS S-10 Bolt On Push-Pull |

The Telonics 15" Neo goes pretty well in a NV400 as well ! _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9
