I was talking to my buddy Steve about his first time to play the OSGA show . He finally decided it would have been 1987 . The interesting {and intimidating} thing was......the bass player was Big E . Can you imagine yourself being a young player and looking over at Buddy Emmons ???? I wouldn't be able to find my hands with both my a$$es .
He said that the venue was the legendary Cains Ballroom and that , at that time , he thought it wasn't named OSGA . Maybe some of you veterans...i.e. John Buffington and Marty Neer would be willing to shed some light on this . He did say that Butch Fishwick was the President at that time . Let me hear from you players who were there during that show . Thank you _________________ Larry King

Larry somebody asked me the other day and the very first Tulsa show I can remember attending was I believe back somewhere in the early 80's. It was at a motel off I-44 and looked like a castle. Sorry the name fails me. Terry Day I think was helping promote the shows. Being a newbie to steel guitar and not from Tulsa it was a new world for me. Good times for sure ! |

That would be it. Long gone now. Can't even tell you who was there other than Terry and maybe Speedy West. |

Larry, I was fortune enough to attend that show. Next time you talk to Steve ask him if remembers saying "the next song I'm going to play is A Way To Survive---That is if the bass player can keep up". Of course by then he and Buddy were having fun kidding each other. By the way the bass player was able to keep up. |
