Who builds a 3+3 changer?
I have a setup that requires a 3 lower changer.
Justice offer them as a standard feature...who else? |

I believe Mullen, MSA, and Show Pro. I think pretty much all current builders have 3 & 3 changers (or more).

I believe Richard is dead-on, most ALL modern pro models have at least 3+3 capability. However, even if they did not, I would not select a guitar on that basis alone. There are too many other factors which should be considered, and there are always work-arounds to accommodate tuning preferences. The little device pictured below was used to add a third raise or lower to older MSA guitars, and still enable tuning from the endplate. (I believe they were sold by Tom Bradshaw.) And, they would work on just about any all-pull guitar.

Donny, the "Bradshaw gizmo" as I've dubbed it, can work, but can also create new problems. A pull rod's pull is often not straight but pulling slightly sideways and can create problems with that pull and anything adjacent. I still have a couple in my Mullen, but don't trust them much. Far better to buy a guitar that has more than enough raise and lower holes in the changer to accommodate present and likely future changes.
No knock on Tom Bradshaw, either, when these gizmos work they're a miracle, and he's a lifelong friend of mine.
MSA has 4R/3L I believe. Excel has 7R/5L, which I may consider down the road, I currently have needs for a 4R/4/L guitar.

Fessenden. Are you looking to buy a changer or a guitar? G2 Mullen, I don't think RPs. I don't think GFI. Emmons never did. Sho bud never did.RP

Ken, you have me confused with your comment. We're talking holes for raises and holes for lowers per changer finger. RP

It was an exaggeration. I think it's actually 6 and 4 or something. 5 & 3 with a couple spares? Can't imagine a setup it couldn't accomodate. |

I see what you're saying, John, but they work fine on a properly set-up guitar; that's key. If you're guitar isn't set-up properly, and rods are pulling at angles, you'll likely have problems either with or without these devices.  |
