Topic: Want to eliminate string on Volume Pedal |

Hey folks,
Can anyone point me to a source for some sprockets and other parts that I could utilize to eliminate the string on my pot pedal? Seems like I remember several years ago there were some pedals available with a sprocket and (rail?) arrangement.
Don’t want to be forced to make the parts if I can avoid it.

My first thought was maybe contact Doug Earnest of Stage One Steels. His volume pedals use a geared mechanism.

| Try Ernie Ball for parts. I think they used a geared system at one time. |

Erv, you just reminded me that this is where I saw it. I was 12 years old and it was on my DeArmond pedal. For my birthday I received a Sho~Bud pedal from my parents. A lllooonnnggg time ago.

| The Dunlops have a gear on the pot, and a "rack" actuated by the pedal. Not sure if the stroke is long enough for the pedal you have. My EB has a longer throw than the Dunlop pedal/wahs that I have. |

| Marty - I recently bought two Emmons fixed pin volume pedals, one for myself and one for a friend. I was surprised to see that one of them has the rack and gear instead of a pot. |

| I'm pretty sure I still have all the rack and gear components off an old Red Baron body mounted volume pedal mechanism. I'll try to dig it out if you need it. I expect Doug can fix you up though. |

Just out of the blue, I have a Lehle pedal, there is no mechanical mechanism at all. It uses a magnet somehow - very smooth and quiet.

Not really a problem. I’m VERY taxed for time (holding the Tracy gig and my day job) so when I had to use a spare pedal a few weeks ago I decided to investigate how much trouble it would take to convert my pedals to rack and pinions. Subsequent to making this post I realized I’ve only broken 2 strings in 40+ years so I’m not sure I’ll pursue it, EXCEPT for purchasing 2 of Doug’s volume pedals and selling my Goodrich L120 pedals. I don’t have time to convert the ones I have and Doug’s have an almost exact footprint etc.

i recommend doug`s stage 1 pedal, i use one for about two years at home and on stage and like it a lot.
very light, a little smaller than a Goodrich but smooth and reliable.
i use a clamp so it doesn't move.
also very affordable, overall a great product! |

| the old msa sidekicks had a pedal (like the a,b,c pedals)on the far right side that attached by a rod to the volume control pot. |
