Very nice writing and arranging with a strong Burt Bacharach influence. The lap steel is low in the mix but fits well as another orchestral color. Here's what Adam says ...

I've been doing a lot of writing the past year and used lap steel on one of my instrumentals. It's a bit hidden in the mix, but I found that lap steel can work well with orchestra - definitely not an orchestration tip I thought of until I tried it out. The lap steel comes in around 2:28.
