Can someone describe or post pics of each fretboard as they come from the manufacturer? It would be nice to be able to identify the guitar by the fretboard.
I was watching Trace Adkins on Fox and the song is kicked off by the steel player with a very good view of the fretboard. Suddenly I realize that I can't remember which fretboards belong to which guitars. I know the Carter shields since I own one. I've owned an old Sho-Bud with the card symbols and a Mullen, but I can't remember the Mullen symbol. |

i think the best fretboard design was the kline with the math symbols. then i would choose the shobud cards followed by the atom clouds of the emmmons. but thats just me |

I like any of them that are easy to see. I need all the help I can get. The hardest one for me is my Emmons pp but I still like to play it. |

I'd like to see a compilation of fretboard designs. For reference, as Sherman suggests, and just for because. There are some good ones for sure--Fender has a classic look. I do like Carter's shields. Bud & Emmons. Fessy longhorns! The Zum diamonds are cool. There are a couple that I really don't like but I have no interest in publicly ragging on anything. |

I am very partial to the Emmons chrome fretboards. Those molecules, atoms or whatever they are have got to be the sharpest markers of all. HOWEVER, when I saw the Rains "Spirit Model" with the dove markers it may just be a tie between the two. I love the Rains Spirit Model guitar and its fretboards. Emmons and Rains "Spirit" are my favorite guitars and their fretboards are the sharpest to me also by a great margin. I always liked the Pedalmaster fretboard because my neighbor and friend LeRoy Prine designed it using the Pittsburg Steeler diamonds with the curved sides as his inspiration. The spiderweb pattern of the Franklin is very neat also. I think the one idea I like in design of a fretboard is that all the markers be the same design and not a mixture of several different shapes. The Fessenden Long Horns look neat as do the Zum diamonds.

fellas -
this is a cool idea, and i would be happy to take the lead in posting a PSG fretboard gallery for all to see.
this will have to be a collaborative project. please email me your best pictures of your fretboards. you don't necessarily have to show the entire fretboard, just a section of it so that the marker icons are clear.
send me decent resolution jpegs from your digital cameras.
i'll let you know when there is something to see, post updates when i get new models posted, and then everyone will know when we've got a complete collection.
how's that sound?
