This is my new custom pedal steel from Hudson Steel Guitars
Jimmie Hudson was incredibly gracious to make this custom steel for me. As I studied the undercarriage, I realized this was not a trival change. Jimmie Hudson swapped the left and right pedals and knee levers. As I only have a complete right leg, this allows me play.
This is very exciting for me. I have already met someone from the forum, who amazingly lives 3 blocks from me. What an exciting journey, starting at 70 years young, on one of the most difficult instruments to play.
Thank you to all the forum members who encouraged me in my search.

That is a great looking steel guitar. Perhaps the prettiest blue wood grain body I’ve seen. It is admirable that Mr. Hudson was able to accommodate your needs. _________________ Steeless. |

That's an amazing accomplishment! It looks great but to me. The thing I can't understand is how Jimmie fit the changer and pedals under one end. Awesome job of engineering Jimmie! Wishing you all the best Steven, enjoy your new adventure. |

Congratulations! That has to be one of the nicest shades of blue I have seen on a steel guitar. Best of luck on your steel guitar journey. |

Beautiful, Steven.....and Jimmie!
Did you make any decisions about a volume pedal, yet? I remember a few suggestions were made. Just curious.
Enjoy it! |

This is so cool! So happy for you. Can we get a shot of the underside?
Junior Brown uses a slick underarm volume pedal that might be useful. _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |

Here are some pictures. This is the first steel that I have seen the underside of. I have only seen posts/pics on the forum. My guess is that this is some form of a pull/release changer. It is quite fascinating to study. I'm trying to grok it all.

Looks like a pull release to me! I have a PR and love it, always stays in tune. What a beauty! You're gonna have fun. _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |

Me and our buddy local Steel picker Harley James had a good Steel-Hang with Steven today!
The Hudson is very nice!
I was able to adjust to the pedals being on the right pretty quickly.
I think Steven is well on his way to Pedal Steel land!

What a great time I had with Pete Burak and Harley James having a steel-hang. Here I am a rank newbie and I had over 60 years steeling in my room talking steel, music, and giving me incredible ideas and things I can do. What a blast.
Peter Burak is amazing. Within a few minutes he was playing my steel using pedals and levers, which are totally swapped left and right. Now I need to get my brain to work that way.
This forum is an incredible font of information. And friends, never in my life would I thought of making friends of an Internet forum.
Thank you to Pete Burak, Harley James, Jimmie Hudson (who made my new steel) and everyone on this forum. |
