As I craft a new nut for this sweet-sounding and extremely heavy (6.65 lbs) Vega Commander I began wondering if anyone had definitive info on when Vega made the change from the star to the script logo. I've tried all the usual places but can only narrow it down to late 30's/early 40's.

Thanks again!

I've tried to answer the same question and haven't narrowed it down further than "early '40s". I think there was a transitional period when some models were updated but others weren't yet. And, to confuse things further, I've seen one or two instruments from the late '40s with the star logo - as if Vega found a couple more decals laying around in a drawer.

This is not directly related, but I do have a Vega electric banjo from the early '40s with a neck that dates from 1931. The inlaid pearl star was finished over and the script logo applied before it left the factory.
