I don't have the guitar in front of me, so I can't look down through the changer to see if it has BCT. So I have this question: does the presence of the Patented sticker on a 2000 D10 mean it has BCT? I see exactly one post here that says it does, but that doesn't seem like enough evidence.

It appears BCT was optional until 2002.

In 1999 when I bought my D10, BCT was standard.

Were you looking at https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=13857

You could ask Al Brisco.

It is my understanding that ALL Carter Badged PRO Steels were BCT after 2002 or 2003. I owned 3 of them (D10's - not at the same time) , excellent Steels. Should never have sold the last one.

The 1st one I owned was a late 90's , it may have been the best one "tone wise" go figure . But they were all excellent. I kept trading up for MORE configuration. The last one was a 2006 / 9 + 8 . Last I spoke with the owner, it was still in the case, never set up. Sad

Gene--yes, but also Jon Light's comment in this thread:

I'm just going to call the owner and ask her to take a picture for me. Thanks all. [/quote]

You know -- I have no recollection of what brought me to make that statement 18 years ago. It is possible that John Fabian told me exactly that. But I simply don't remember. There is no way I would stand behind the statement today without remembering why I made it. The only certain fact at this point is that my '98 guitar has BCT.

According to John Fabian ( RIP) BCT began in 1998

Bit the bullet and brought this guitar home. My goodness, tone and sustain for days. It has the BCT. George L's pickups sound nice too.

According to your serial number, your guitar was built in 1998. Since that is the year they started with BCT, I'm not sure whether yours would have it or not. There is no designation in the serial number to say if it has it or not.

Dennis, your guitar has BCT.

Serial numbers lower than 90658199-20 were not originally equipped, but for those older models it was possible to send the guitar to Carter and have BCT added.
