Ben Bonham is a Pacific Northwest guy who is getting noticed...he makes one-of-a-kind instruments (check out his Instagram site for some wild instruments, https://www.instagram.com/bonhamdesign/)

He restored a late 1920s Weissenborn that had been sat on and was in pieces, and was able to make exact measurements...then did his thing to make mine. It has both great volume and lots of that classic Weissenborn shimmer.

Style 3.5 model...
-1,200 year old Doug fir top (incredibly tight grain and tone) from Pinchot forest in Washington,
-Black acacia sides and back and headstock (from a fallen tree in Oakland, CA)
-Rosewood fingerboard,
-Handmade rope binding from beech and walnut,
-With hard case and Baggs M1 pickup wired to endpin jack (easily removed/replaced, it just plugs in to wiring harness).

New, he would charge $3,000 for this configuration. I'm asking $2,200 + ship CONUS. It is about 3 years old, which is just what Ben said is enough time for the sound to really open up. Oh yes...it does sound "like angels singing"....

I'd be happy to include a review period...if not satisfied (unlikely!), just return it in same state as you got it, and pay shipping.

If you live in Portland, Ben usually has an instrument or two for sale with Keith at 3 Tracks Music in Nopo.

The few I´ve gotten to try are LOUD and rich with overtones.

Edited to point out:
It has both great volume and lots of that classic Weissenborn shimmer.
