Have a lot of trouble w tuning stability on my 56 Fender Deluxe 8. Using a modified G13 tuning w low E and hi F, 15-56 string gauge.
Could it be my stringing technique? Are those recessed pans generally not stable?
Solutions?

Thx!

They are Kluson tuners - used on countless guitars over the years and a great, reliable design.

The pans are just there to hold the tuners in place and they do their job just fine.

I have always found Stringmasters to be rock solid (unless the tuner is actually broken - which can happen to any moving mechanical part eventually).

Maybe you have a cog with a broken tooth or something. Is it just one string that's slipping? Do the tuners feel solid and turn smoothly? Do you stretch the strings when you first put them on?

I'm not sure how you spell your tuning but as long as the gauges are sililar to the reccomendations in this chart, you should have no problems. The low E and high F sound about right.
