SOLD
This is a student model guitar made by Rickenbacker in the late 40's under the Academy brand. Sometimes also branded as Ace. Still has the wonderful horseshoe pickup (1.25") and dense, sustaining brown bakelite body. It had some cheap non-original tuners on it when I got it which I replaced with some non-original but really nice Grover 18:1 Sta-Tites. Disclosure: you can see where two of the Grover mounting screws snapped off in the bakelite. I drilled pilot holes but I guess they weren't big enough for the dense material. The tuners stay in place just fine with one screw so it doesn't affect the tuning. Didn't have a case so I adapted a zippered nylon viola case. Fits well with plenty of compartments. Tone bar in pic 1 is not included. Sounds fabulous. Didn't think I'd ever sell it but I recently bought a B6. Asking $450 + shipping.
