I've never played one of his 8-strings but I had a 6-string, birch McKenna and it was monstrous. Loud, clean and clear as a bell. They're way undervalued, worth way more than Mr. McKenna was charging for them. Really wish I hadn't had to sell it. |

I have one of Mr. McKenna's 8-string dobros. If you are looking for an 8-string for three figures rather than spending over 2k for a Beard, this is the one to get. |

Jim Rossen, that's called a "trapeze tailpiece". Sho-Bros used them, and you see them occasionally on other guitars. Typically the string threads through a hole in the bar - which I like as it can't pop out while getting it started on the tuner.
