I recently heard Bill Stafford’s breathtaking album Going Home and it has immediately become a huge inspiration to my own playing and style.

I know Bill has some other CDs, which I would love to buy, but I can’t find them. Can any one point me in the right direction?

I also know that Bill plays a 14 string Excel, and from hearing the incredible range and harmonic options he has at his disposal, I’d love to know more about his tuning and Copedent. Does anyone have a chart?

I haven’t seen Bill post here recently, but if you’d happen to see this Mr. Stafford, thanks you so much for your incredible music! You’ve profoundly inspired me as a steel player and musician, and I only just discovered your music recently!

Thanks
Baron

I know this is older stuff from around the 90s, but this is the chart from Sierra when Bill was playing and endorsing them. This is for the SCM14SE which was short for Sierra Crown Master 14 Stafford Elegante.

I know he has been playing Excel for quite some time now, so I don't have anything current and his setup has changed some as he added new things here and there.

Here's a post where he describes some changes on his Superb.

Perhaps he'll come along here and update for you.

Thanks Jerry! Appreciate the info, and will have a look at that other post. I do hope Bill will pop in, I'd love to know if his copedent is still the same and how I can buy some CDs.

Thanks,
Baron

I have no answers, but "Going Home" is absolutely fantastic.
