Doug, that is very cool. Nice job. So what tuning are you using?

Thanks, Rich. The tuning is C6 with a couple of alterations for this song.

I tuned my high G down to F# and I have a low E, string 8.

The middle 6 strings are standard C6 lap steel: (low to high) C E G A C E. And 98% of the song is played on the middle 6 strings. I only played strings 1 & 8 a couple of times, and only as fills. So the song can be played on a 6-string lap steel, standard C6 tuning. Smile

I like it Doug! I also like that you adapt your tuning to suit the tunes whenever needed.

Excellent Doug! There is something about those 50/60s guitar based instrumentals that are just so timeless. Maybe because they where so much a part of my growing up. Liking the sound you get out of that Fender. Great stuff! Mike

Superb, Doug and the visuals are a lesson in pick blocking.

Wicked cool, Doug! Fave tune!!! Love your β€œrolling” leads, the harmonics - nice surprise! - and the grabs you did for those orchestral hits at the end. Great work!!

Thanks Nelson! I had a blast with this one. Originally I was planning to play the main guitar riff on the steel, so I put a thicker string 8 on, tuned to low E, but I couldn't get that "spy guitar" sound that is so necessary for this song. So I played that on my Strat and played the horn line on steel. Thanks for checking it out.
