I have a JBL 12" speaker from the late 60's that distorts. Can it be reconed with factory parts? What is the approximate cost to re-cone? What is a fair price for it as is? Thanks for any info you can give me. |

Call Slice Speaker in Kansas City, Bruce. He reconed one of those for me several years ago, not sure if the parts are still readily available. |

Just remember that factory recone parts are no longer available. All parts are aftermarket for all reconers and kits. _________________ Michael Brebes

The reconing place I usually used was Sound Speaker Repair but it seems like they are out of business.
I liked their kits, the cone kit came partially assembled when you received it.

Erv, Yes, Sound Speaker Repair is out of business. I contacted them last year, maybe in March, and they said they were going out of business. |

So as you'll hear IT IS WELL WORTH IT. |
GREAT sound!! The speaker sounds superb but I believe this has a lot more to with Ricky's talent than the reconing. Still, it's worth it to get the best recone you can get; that JBL is one hell of a speaker! _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

Hey Bruce . . I would also suggest Slice Speaker Service in Kansas City. I know they’ve been in business for over 3 decades, and are a very reputable company. I had a D120 reconed a couple years ago, but don’t recall the exact price. I also had a couple JBL studio monitors repaired after the foam surround had deteriorated. |

I use Freeman Tuell Speaker repair in Dallas for my JBL-D130F’s and they sound great to me. |

thats the best move you could make. let someone else spend the money on a recone that can never be exactly like the original. the frame will bring some money for sure. |
