Hi yall. New member here.guitarist and steel player ( now happily retired after forty years in the business and currently performing to the four walls of my living room) Got me an old Emmons that I'm running through an Acoustic Image Clarus 1R amp and then into a small Razors Edge speaker cabinet. I recently bought a Peavey Nashville 112 and I don't think it sounds as good as the Clarus and razors Edge. Been monkeying with the Peavey knobs and can't find the sound I want. Any thoughts? |

just a postscript...I used to play a JCH through an Evans which was pretty good but I still prefer the Emmons through the Clarus. I know alot of players like the Nashville 112 but I wasn't too crazy about the reverb or the sound from the settings examples from the manual. I guess that everyone has their own ideas about sound and amp preferences. Anybody ever try the Clarus and Razors edge combination for the steel or am I the only one?? |

I'd try the suggested settings on your owner's manual, but add some delay with a Boss DD3, or comparable pedal. The NV112 has been proven by many top pros. You could also move to the Electronics section and do a search. You should find many suggestions to help you. Best regards and good luck.

I have been using an Acoustic Image Focus 1R for a few years. (with the PSG mid range mod of course). I run a marrs closed back ultra light cab loaded with a Peavey 1501-4 SB Black widow.
I prefer this rig to my very expensive, very high end, (and very great sounding) component rack rig. The focus gets played about 95% of the time. Customer service at AI is great. I dont use any outboard stuff, just the on board digital hall setting for verb. Recording engineers love this rig, because it is virtually noiseless. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Did I mention that it is compact, and light as a feather? Suggestion: If you work larger venues, or play with a large band, the headroom afforded in the higher powered models may better suit.. |
