I have a problem on my all-pull guitar with the A pedal. If I back off the tuning nuts for the 5th and 10th strings and then tune the A pedal for the 5th string it works fine - it stays in tune.
But when I attempt to tune the 10th string A pedal the C# on the 5th string goes flat and keeps drifting flat the more a times I push the pedal.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated! |

I'm not saying it's overtuned -- not enough info -- but.....
-- in the state of overtuning, the changer is hanging in a state of balance. It shouldn't be. State of balance is a state of imbalance waiting to happen and it is plausible that an overtuned 5th or 10th string is being thrown out of balance by adjustments to the other.
Check out my pinned post at the top of the page and see if you can identify this as the problem. |

maybe the nylon tuning nut has bad/worn threads and is slipping each time you press the pedal? _________________ "To live outside the law you must be honest." (Bob Dylan) |

I had this problem on my ShoBud, an early 80's pro 1. After trying everything under the sun I tore the changer down and found the rivets that hold the fingers together had worn the fingers to the point that they were flopping around on the rivets and binding. New fingers were required. IF all the routine stuff fails, you might have to dig a little deeper. _________________ ShoBud Pro 1, 75 Tele, 85 Yamaha SA 2000, Fender Cybertwin, |

One thing that may be causing this is the 5th string raise on pedal three is coming back sharp and not allowing the ten and five on A to have a home slacked base resulting on it not coming back home |

Thanks for the ideas! I tried replacing the tuning nuts since that is pretty simple. It didn't help.
Then I noticed the bell-cranks were angled more towards the changer that I remembered positioning them (this whole thing started because I had to swap out a broken bell- crank). I re-positioned them so that they were more vertical (not angled towards the changer) and that seemed to fix this issue.
I guess the bell-cranks had slipped a bit on the cross rod. I've tightened them some more so hopefully it won't happen again! |
