my friend bought this guitar at a sale and would like to know when it was made and what it is worth it was made by the Thompson guitar co. in Hillman michigancan any one help me with this so it can be posted Fonza

I have a Thompson D-10 that I inherited from deceased forum brother Fred Truitt. If you have pics, email them to me and I'll post them here. I'll post a pic of mine also, asap.

I have some info but have to dig it out. Details are sketchy on the Thompsons. No doubt it's an early to mid 70's guitar, and you don't have to tell me it weighs a ton. Mine is pretty shafted actually. The changer is beat, and it won't hold its tune. I use it for non-pedal practice when my Carter out of the house - that's about it. I can safely say that Thompson steels do not have any real vintage value. If it's in mint condition, it's still only worth less than a grand. They were never considered a major brand.

Someone may chime in here who knows more about these guitars.

I GREW UP IN HILLMAN AND OWNED AN S10 LITTLE BUDDY. THEY WERE BUILT BY CHUCK THOMPSON AND FREEMAN COWGAR WHO BUILT THE COUGAR AFTER CHUCK AND FREEMAN WENT SEPARATE WAYS.
I WOULD SAY THEY ARE IN THE CLASS OF THE MAVERICK. HOPE THIS HELPS, JACK
