I took time off from my latest Banjo/Sitar studies to crank out another tune, still miked direct. It's a six and a half minute marathon labeled "Too Country". Still not missing the Sho-Bud or the Webb amp with this new combination. I'd like to do a few tunes direct with a little stereo echo added for a really fat sound but the guitar/amp sound Ok to me out of the box with a little (ok, a lot) of reverb added.

That's a great sound, Greg! I have it sitting pretty loud here on my studio speakers and it's about as good as a steel can sound. You've got a great combination going there. It's got a nice vintage feel to it, but yet it employs all the positive attributes of modern steel technology.
Oh ya.....you're playing is smokin' as well.  |

Gregg-That MSA Legand sounded great on that "Too Country" , along with the FSK amp.
It shows off the E9 tuning and what you can get on it, and you got it all....al

Greg, absolutely a great rendition. Kind of sounds to me like you belong in Nashville rendering a solid country steel back up sound. That is missing today in my book.

Thanks guys! I started doing this just to put sound samples on my web site. Then I did a little CD for Dad for Father's day with some songs and finally just figured I'd post them on the web site. Recording is HARD work with all the drum patterns and mastering. On Too Country I actually put in a solid drum/rhythm pattern and it sounded too "drummy" and continuous. So I went back in and edited in the pauses using the built in Yamaha waveform generator. Since they are home recordings I am not going to go back and adjust all the places where I blew the timing and played between the frets! I did start out with Band In A Box for backup but when I saw what I could get a cheap bass and drum machine for, I went with those.
Thanks for listening! I am working on a rock and roll song next just to mix it up a little. It should be posted before the end of this week.

Just added "Rockin' On 26 Strings" tonight. Got my version of "heavy metal" in the middle so if you're lookin' for pure country, this ain't Kitty Wells or Doc Williams (but they did rock!)
