Hi Everyone,
My husband passed away almost 4 years ago and he loved this site. I have his Pedal Steel Guitar that I've been holding on to and I think that it's finally time for me to part with it. It really should be played.
The problem is that I haven't got a clue what I should price it at. I wonder if any of you might have an idea of how I can find a fair price for it. It's in amazing condition he was always so careful with his stuff. I've attached photo of him playing.
Many thanks!

I am so sorry to hear about that. I'm sure Ricky Davis can chime in and help you out, he is a great person to talk with about these old Buds. Best of luck, and god bless. _________________ 66 Sho~Bud Fingertip |

I'm very sorry of your husband David's passing; I think I even communicated with him at one point.
Well that is a very nice Sho~bud LDG; I still consider it a great Sho~bud from 1976; with the gumby headstock curved knee levers; with crossbars with two-hole pullers; either double raise/single lower or double/double fingers.
I don't really sell Sho~bud's; unless I work on one for a customer and he wants to sell it...so I know how much he paid for it then how much I put into it to restore it to NEW-ish....and so that's How I get the worth. I don't have those factors with me with this one David had; but I do know that particular LDG made during that time of the "The Pro-II Custom with narrow slick pedals and curved knees is one that NOTHING EVER GOES WRONG with it....So to me; that is certainly worth at least 2500.00 US dollars.....but actually worth what someone will pay for it.....so I would say: "Start your Bidding"..ah..ha...

Thank you Ricky, I appreciate your feedback and help.
I don't know how much he paid for it, I've looked everywhere but I know he searched a long time to find it. I think it's time to list this and let someone else enjoy it.
Take care,

I have an 80 model LDG that my good friend Ted bought new. He had back problems so I would always try to help him load in and out at our gigs. I unloaded the "new" guitar and asked what it cost, his wife said "almost a divorce"! He told me he paid $1200 in Phoenix. |

Hi Karen
You might try selling locally , and avoid having to pack and ship. There would be interested buyers in your area.

Hi Karen,
You could consign the Sho-Bud pedal-steel to Al Brisco's Steel Guitars of Canada shop and have him sell it for you. His shop is located in Colborne Ontario, about a one hour drive east of you.
Al is a world class player and a first class steel guitar builder and technician. It is quite likely that your husband knew Al. Al is very fair when selling, which he does through his shop and website. Al really knows the value of guitars and his commission is modest. He sold a 1970 Sho-Bud for me exactly two years ago and I was very pleased with the money I received.
You can call Al Brisco at 905-355-3056. His website is steelguitarcanada.com
Wishing you the best, Dr. Al Kirby, Peterborough County, Ontario |

Thank you! My husband did know him and actually was at his shop quite a few times, and in fact I know he bought and sold a few items with Al. I am going to give him a call to discuss. I appreciate your feedback. _________________ 1976 ShoBud LDG, Peavey Nashville 112, 1994 Fender Custom Shop Jerry Donahue Telecaster |
