I plan on replacing the cables between my spring reverb unit and the pre-amp/power-amp.
Is a 18 gauge audio cable sufficient or do I need a heavier gauge cable? |

18 gauge seems more than sufficient, should be really well shielded . Not much power needed to drive the tank . Somewhere around 1/2 watt to 1 watt . |

Hi John
I see you are going to relocate your reverb pan to the bottom of the cabinet , and I am thinking that's why you are ordering some new cables , because the original ones are too short . I should mention that reverb pans that mount horizontally are of different design than those that mount vertically . Though for testing purpose , no problem . Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I appreciate the info, but I'm not relocating anything.
The reference to the Ken Fox post was related to what kind/gauge of cable to use for the reverb train.
Ciao fer now,

Jerry,
The current reverb cables are long enough...in fact I took the reverb pan out of the cabinet and placed it as far away from the power amp as I could get and the hum went totally away.
A spring reverb placed in a small cabinet is not a good idea unless there is some way to totally isolate it from the power amp!!! |
