The link below leads to a YouTube video that is very revealing.

***WARNING, there are mistakes....LoL***

-It had to be late 1981 because I was working-in/playing things I had just learned in Jeff's school in October of '81. (I.E., The "P" pattern for swing stuff, the minor chords, the half pedal, my right-hand laying over in lieu of the bear claw look, the up-tempo minor scale on strings 5 thru 1, and others.) Also, and this is the biggie, I had started wearing my high school graduation ring again because Buddy had played for us at Jeff's and he had a ring on his picking hand....LoL.

-That was the first time I had ever seen/heard Buddy and I was hooked for life. I even managed to work-in a poor imitation of his unison lick in "The Back Door."

-I still hadn't learned to lay back when it wasn't my solo, but honestly, that kinda comes with playing Cajun Music. If you've noticed most band members play all of the time in that genre and old habits are hard to break.

-The black Sho-Bud was ordered from Herb Remington in June of that year.

-Notice all of the Randall amps---man we loved those amps.

-I wish I'd become 1/10000th the steel-guitarist I aspired to be back then. I wish I weighed within 25lbs, had 75% of the hair, and 95% of the optimism I had back then.

Just remembered that the endplates in that guitar are signed by Buddy, Jeff, and Lloyd. The fella who purchased it still plays in church with it.

Btw, I was lucky, I only had one lever that ever broke off of that guitar...LMBO.

Marty,

Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed listening to that today. And while you may wish you had become 1/10000th of the player you aspired to become, some of us are still aspiring to just play as well as you could in 1981 Shocked

Sounded good to me sir!
