easily 7 or 8 years ago I bought a new Breedlove at GC, it was around $600. I don't recall the model no. but it was a Natural Top with on board electronics. It was a great guitar, no disappointments . I did sell it a few years later which is when I moved to Taylor guitars.

The Breedlove played extremely well, it was a very hi quality build and the electronics were excellent. I should have kept it ! When I bought it , I didn't select it due to price, I selected it due to playability , tone and build. I could have spent a bunch more but in comparison, the Breedlove outperformed the other guitars in the +/- price range. I was looking in the $500 to $800 price range.

Larry Breedlove worked at Taylor, around 1990 he started the Breedlove Guitar company, the company was sold in 2010 to another Luthier.

The Breedlove Guitar that I had was made off shore, the higher priced guitars are all USA born.

My Breedlove was an offshore guitar, very nice, my Taylors are the 300 and 400 series. My main Taylor is a 414. These guitars USED are 2x the price of the Breedlove I had new plus they are USA born. An unfair comparison.

Taylors have a reputation, very bright, not quite as loud as a Martin but playability wise, the street talk is " play one you played them all" Very consistent necks and action which is what I like. Tone wise they lean bright which I also like .

The Breedlove I had in the price range was excellent. IF you decide to step up in price and model you would have to sit with a Martin, Taylor and Breedlove in the same category. They will all sound a bit different due to construction, woods, bracing etc...

Take a look at the Talor 100 and 200 series as well, they may be a bit more money than the Breedlove but you may like the brighter tones. They are both OFF SHORE guitars as well.

Taylor 100 and 200 series guitars are actually made in Mexico - only 40 miles from the Taylor USA factory in Southern California.
I was lucky enough to find a wonderful used 814CE for a really great price on Craigslist. It is a pleasure to play and projects very well.(They are bright, indeed)
It couldn't hurt to try one of the 100 or 200's before you make your final decision.
