Legendary fiddler Kenneth "Little Red" Hayes passed away yesterday. He played with Ray Price, George Jones, Hank Thompson, Faron Young, Mel Tillis, and Jim Reeves, among many others.

I caught Little Red on RFD just last week, playing with Ray Price. Here is a clip of the show, although not the best quality:

Prayers for the family...R.I.P. Little Red.

"Little Red"and I worked for George Jones together...he and Hank Singer were the "fiddle section"...

I had just left the"Cherokee Cowboys"(Little Red was there in the'60s)and LR would regale me with tales of"The Chief"and his"merry band"...

Rest easy, my friend...

Little Red and Big Red were a GREAT team back in the day. When they were off the road I used to play gigs with them. Always a treat! My Dad's best friend (Roy Hayes) was their older brother and a good bass player. Sorry to lose another good one. Condolences to all the family. RIP Lil'Red.

In the 80's and 90's When I was playing several jobs in greater Houston area with Herman McCoy (Red's father -n-law), he would play fiddle / and baritone. Was a great musician, who could play anything we did. Just look at him and would take the lead.

Thanks for memories, Red.

What a part of musical heritage to be a part of.
Sympathies to the Family.

Didn't the taller fiddler in the trio also play with Ray Price (both fiddle and mandolin) for a long while?

It was his brother (also Red Hayes) who wrote and originally recorded Satisfied Mind.

That's Jimmy Belkin. I don't know much about his early career, but I know he played for Merle in the 80s and 90s.
