Hi everyone,
I recently acquired a Sierra Sessions s-10 and am getting started. I’ve got music experience with quite a few other instruments (piano, guitar, fiddle, bass of course, mandolin ) but nothing quite like a pedal steel! Someone on my Facebook suggested I put out some feelers on here for other Steelers in my area that might be able to show me some of the finer points of my Sierra, namely the underneath, all the innards so to speak. I have the manual, but nothing beats an actual human with experience. I am happy to pay if that’s a thing. I am in Santa Cruz California which is near the Bay Area Silicon Valley.
Thank you! Any recommendations are appreciated. Tips, lesson refs, etc _________________ Square one n Havin’ fun |

Congrats on your new guitar. pretty nice rig to get started with. I'm not real close to you, but if you ever make it up Petaluma way, I'd be happy to give you a primer on what the heck goes on under the skirts of thse contraptions. I can give you a tour of the shop and show you some new Sierras as well.
merry Christmas! |

Thank you for your reply! I wouldn’t mind driving up and seeing the shop, as well as any knowledge of what goes on underneath, I think it would be worth a drive. Much appreciated and merry Christmas! _________________ Square one n Havin’ fun |

Joe Goldmark taught back in the 1970s, he may still. He lives in Oakland, I bought a student ZB from one of his students in 1976. Great player, great guy. He has a website. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

John McClung himself is an excellent instructor and has a complete, 16-lesson intro to pedal steel that he teaches over the internet. Great guy, great teacher too. Many sing his praises here, me included. I'd contact him for details. _________________ Keep on truckin' |

I love Santa cruz, used to kite Waddell creek or surf around 41st every chance i could.
(and would also strongly recommend lessons with John McClung, will get you progressing as fast as you can with correct technique, ear training, repertoire etc) _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG

I appreciate the member info Gene! I too love waddel creek, though not so much when the wind is blowing. It’s a great spot on a south swell. We’ve got great swell right now. Again thank you! _________________ Square one n Havin’ fun |
