We've talked about Megan Lovell and Larkin Poe here before. While they haven't really broken into the big time yet, their fan base is growing, and I, for one, really enjoy their recordings, especially when it's just the two of them.
That said, I notice the prices of Ricky pandas has been increasing over the last year or so. Do you think Megan's influence is affecting the market?

Here's Megan with an 'Apache' lesson in G minor tuning inspired by Doug Beaumier.

My playing style on steel is pretty different, but I love their music. Some of their early stuff was great...the Lovell Sisters albums for those that like bluegrass/pop, and then their first few albums (the Seasons one, Kin) had a broader mix of styles than their blues/Americana focus currently (not that there's anything wrong with that). Great live band...both of them are exceptional musicians and really good singers.
I doubt the run on Rick bakelites is their doing, unless Megan is trying to stock up on backups...they are a bit fragile and aren't gonna be making any more!! I mean, I guess if they get REALLY popular John Hall might have to give it some consideration...(side thought...Rickenbacker resuming steel guitar production after all these years? would be wild to think about, albeit very unlikely) _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

One good gauge would be to ask the teachers if they're getting more students, especially teen and twenties. |
