I would appreciate any feedback about a 1970 ZB 3x1 steel guitar. Is this considered a “Starter†or a professional model, but simplified to keep costs down.
Ok for a beginner? A non-steel playing friend acquired one and had questions I could not answer. He did send pics and it appears to be in good condition and w case.
Thank for helping out. _________________ Williams

Sounds like their student model. The pro S10 came with 5p/2k. I had a 1971 S10. But the student model had the same pro undercarriage parts as the pro models if I remember right. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . It would be considered a beginner model based on its features. It would have the same hardware basically as the pro models, just less of it. ZB’s are a bit tricky to work on and tune, your friend may benefit from some instructions if he intends to keep it and not be frustrated with it. |

TY for replies guys.
Looks like there is hardware available for adding pedals (not sure about levers). On pics he sent I see pick up is not original. Heard the original had a good sound but significant cab drop. Looks like previous owner tried to glue wood joints front & back, though not very well as best I can tell from pics (still gap and glue ridge). Perhaps they were trying to reduce “dropâ€.
If nothing else, I sure like looking at these old steels just imagining the thrill and frustrations playing and repairing back in “the dayâ€. What a story they tell.
Again, I appreciate your thoughtful responses!!! _________________ Williams
