The title says it all, but I've had some trouble finding all of the uses of this change which I have on my guitar.

0 Pedal lowers my 5th String B a whole step to A, and my 6th string G# to an F#.

It's an interesting chord. E add 4 I guess? How might I use this?

The fact that you get a unity note across the 7th and sixth string (F#) is nice for licks, but I'm wondering if there are some clever moves I'm missing.

Full copedent below:

I think you mean "lowers", not "raises".

I saw a rig-rundown video of Paul Franklin with Vince Gill where he said he developed that pedal so he could trade licks with piano players (in the same way, I suppose, that the A&B pedals have always suggested the fiddle).

It doesn't give any new chords but it does offer some different movement. I don't bother with it as I still have enough to learn with A, B & C! Smile

Hmm. I’m not sure if I understand that fully but I’m going to poke around for the video. Thanks for the tip. I’m staying plenty busy with A, B, and C as well. Just curious if I was missing something since I didn’t see this change takes about on the forum.

Also thanks for the heads up on the typo. I’ve edited the original post.

Cheers

Eric, about 3 years ago, I moved my Vertical B-Bb change to my 0 pedal, per Travis Toy's recommendation and found it a VERY natural move... You can use that change with the A pedal in a less awkward way than using it in the Vertical position... for me I never found much use for the Franklin change, but did put a whole lower of 5 on my 5th pedal and can use it with the whole lower of 6 which I now have on my Vertical. I just prefer to have them split anyhow.

D chord with string 9 (kinda fun releasing into an E7)
F#m9 with strings 4 & 3
B13th chord with 4 & 3, E lowered (or with open strings 3 & 2)

Mine also lowers string 10 a whole step, so the Esus/add9 chord (or whatever you want to call it) sounds kinda beefy in the low register. Some lick-specific things can be done when used consecutively with AB, and also with the E raises and lowers.

As far as a change that creates a useful tuning across all strings, I agree that it doesn’t seem to do that like AB or E lower or D lower. It’s more like the BC thing, if BC were one pedal.

My thoughts on this change/setup

It would make more sense if the Ø and D pedal changes was swapped since this B-A & G#-F# really wants to be used togeteher with the lowering of the E strings.

in that Ø position you might wanna consider
strings 11 and 6 G#-G
or
strings 11 and 6 G#-A#

If you move the G#-F# and B-A to the D pedal, also consider moving those changes to strings 11 and 10 instead as that is also a quite interesting combo.

Another very useful one at D pedal would be 6t and 5th string G#-A# and B-C#

Not sure what guitar you have and how easy it is to swap/modify changes on the Ø and D pedal tho.

Best of luck finding a setup that will make your musical ideas come through easily.

Wow thanks for all of the tips guys. There's a lot here to sift through for a beginner, but i'm in a much better understanding of how a few tweaks might bring out some cool moves up and down the neck.

I have an excel s12 guitar. From what i've heard they're supposed to be on the easier end of modifying changes.
