I'm restoring a Brumley-era ZB D-10. Well, in fits and starts over years. I was recently examining the changer rods (w/turnbuckle adjustments) and found the threads on the first one I tried to be jammed up. Since there's a locknut on the assembly I'd guess it should be easier to turn.
My question is: are the threads 6-32 RH thread on one part and 6-32 LH thread on the other? (See photo) I'd rather be sure before purchasing a tap and a die in LH thread. Thanks for any help on that.

Also, I only have seven pedal rods, so I need another — should be eight. Don't know if I lost one somewhere or never had it; the guitar was a basket case when I got it. They're approx. 25" long including the pedal (carburetor) linkage. (See photo again) If someone has an extra pedal rod they could sell me I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks again!

No ZB expert here but I have an acquaintance who has one that I've worked on a couple times and yes, some of the linkage threads on his ZB are reversed, LH.

Greg Jones is the resident ZB expert here, particularly on the Brumley models, so I would defer to him.

All the hex style ones I've seen have 6-40 LH & RH threads. True turnbuckles.
There are several versions of round ones: some have 6-32 on one end and 6-40 on the other. Some are 6-32 on both ends. All RH threads, so not really true turnbuckles.
I always replace any round ones with the hex style - so much easier to adjust! Smile

You can get pedal rods cut to length from PSGPARTS.COM

Thanks for the info. So I should hunt for 6-40 RH and LH taps and dies to clean up the rods and turnbuckles; that's a bit finer than the standard 6-32 thread. OK, will proceed.

Thanks a million! I was thinking of going to Plan B: using a wire brush on the screw threads, getting rid of whatever crud is on them jamming them up and for the interior threads in the turnbuckle, maybe getting an itty-bitty circular wire brush, like for cleaning guns; but this is much better, and not as expensive as I expected.
Be well.

Oh, and I found the missing pedal rod. The pedal linkage had come disassembled from the rod so it was shorter than the others in the mailing tube where I kept them all. I didn't see it until I emptied the container and found the separate pieces. I reassembled the unit and all is well.
I'm sure I'll be contacting Michael Yahl at some point.
Onwards!
