Has anyone seen the new 30 second Holiday commercial for Rakuten? They parody the Elton John song, Rocket Man, and features a guy on the sofa playing one of the budget Rogue/Artisan/various name brand/etc. lap steels. I haven't seen a lap steel (or any steel guitar) in a TV commercial that I can remember.
