A friend has a S-10 Emmons PP missing a bunch of parts, most particularly the changer. Did Emmons use E9 or C6 PP fingers for their S-10's? Thanks, DJ. |

Doug, as far as I know, the e 9th and c6th were the same, of coure on the same model guitar like a cuttail, or bolt on etc. Get changer parts for that particular model and they will all be the same. Bobbe Seymore that's here on the forum will probably have the parts. |

I saw the 12 string C6 changer post and that's what prompted my inquiry. I'll get my friend to measure the thickness of his S-10. If it is 1/4" less than the front of a D-10 my assumption would be to use C6 fingers. I'll also wait for more posts. Thanks, DJ |

Hey J.D., I didn't know that. Is it just on a single 10 p/p or are the double necks that way also? I sure hope the d-10's aren't that way because when I took my p/p apart, I believe I put the c6th changer on e9th and e9th on c6th because I figured it had less wear. When I had them off, I couldn't tell the difference but didn't look that close.---Henry |

That's funny Pat. Actually, I'm a brain surgeon and I take p/p's apart for past time.
I did check over my changers and they were exactly the same but maybe my guitar is different or has been modified with the same changer on both necks. |

One reason the E9 fingers need to be longer, is so that the screws will line up with the through holes in the end plate. There are also several other reasons that they are longer (and slightly different) as well. Think about the raise and drop rod alignment. All the bell cranks are the same length and are attached to cross bars that are all mounted at a common height. The necks are at different elevations, so there needs to be several variations in design. Take a look at the two angle drop rod guide brackets the return springs attach to. The one for the E9 neck is taller.

Jay Dee and Lynn are correct.
I just had to switch the changers around on a p/p I'm working on as I had them in backwards.

So any ideas which finger Emmons used on their S-10 PPs? |

Doug,
Take a look at the drop rod angle bracket by the changer on the guitar in question. If it is 1" tall, it's an E9 changer. If it's 3/4" tall it's a C6 changer.
I hope that helps,
Lynn |
