When replacing a string you go around the screw clockwise then tighten it down. Is there any reason you cant go counter clockwise. A couple of my strings have left impressions in the aluminum base the screw makes from the pressure and the strings held down keep slipping a little

The problem w going across the screws CCW is that they tend to loosen as you tighten. You can simply file the grooves off of the keyless tuning finger and you're back in business.

Jack,

I had the same problem on my Sierra, on my third string. It was the hardest to get to pitch and after a while, like you, grooves formed under the screw and I couldn't keep the string from slipping.

I bought a metal washer large enough to cover the affected area. I couldn't find the perfect size so I had to file it down.

So now when you run the string around the screw and on top of the washer you have a nice flat surface.

Good luck!

Scott
