I have the factory pedal measurements for my 1974 Emmons pp from the floor to the bottom of the E9th pedals but not for the C6th pedals. Does anybody have the measurements and are willing to share them with me?

Thanks

I just got eight 1 inch extra long pedal rod connectors. I have the E9th pedals set-up, but I don't know anything about setting up the C6th pedal height. Does some of the pedals need to be higher? All I know to do is set them all the same height and parallel to the floor.

What's important to me is the feel of the pedals when depressed. For example, on the C6th neck I want the 5th & 6th pedals to feel relatively even when depressed, because that's a common pedal combination. Sometimes I'll raise or lower a particular pedal to make it easier for my foot to rock on and off cleanly, or for double footing situations.

We all have slightly different anatomies, including in our feet and ankles. One size does not fit all. Setting the pedals to all be at the same height when not depressed should not be a concern, IMO.

Your E9 pedals should be set up so that they bottom out comfortably, rather than looking pretty in the raised position.

The same applies to C6. Pedals 5&6 should be at the same height (depth?) when they're depressed. If your P8 is in 4th position that should bottom out with P5. P7 might need to be a bit higher - it depends exactly where you sit.

Be prepared to spend some time on your knees with a wrench Smile

[edit - seems like me and Paul were thinking the same thing at the same time!]

Thanks Paul and I understand completely. I can't use the Emmons factory settings on my E9th C pedal. I have got to have it higher. After 50+ years of playing E9th, I have had a lot of experience "playing it by foot". I just thought there might be certain pedals on C6th that need different settings and if somebody had the factory settings, it would be a good starting point. I'll just set them all the same with what feels good to me and make adjustments if and when the need arises.

I can just barely play C6 on blues and rockabilly, so I'm pretty green on that neck. The bands I've played in over the years have all played straight ahead country with a few 50's numbers thrown in on occasion. I've just let the guitar or piano have those. I will be working on the C6th pretty much for my own enjoyment.

You should get plenty of that!

Many players set pedals at different heights because of their different amounts of travel, and because having certain pedals higher makes it easier to find your "home position" by feel. Setting them so they're parallel to the floor isn't really necessary, or even advisable. They should be set so they're comfortable to operate, and so they don't bottom out if you play on padded carpet.

Comfort and playability should be your priority, not how it looks! Winking

I was caught out once by a friend's shag pile.

I keep a 3'x2' sheet of plywood in the car now Smile

Similar thing happened to me twice. Once in sand and once in gravel. Like you, I go prepared with plywood on any new venue and all outdoor gigs.
