Hey there,

I've got Don Stevens'(WLS Barn Dance) Fender Professional T8 coming in the mail. His daughter had it up for consignment. There are a few things that I know will need to be repaired. For sure that one pickup needs rewinding, according to the tech at the shop. The top neck's pickup is really weak, according to the seller. So, who would you trust your rewind/rebuild to? I've heard good things about Lindy Fralin. Also JM Rolph. I also see folks like Don Mare, but his wait time is quite long. If possible, I'd hope to end up with a pickup that doesn't sound too different from the other two. Any suggestions and personal experience are appreciated. Thanks!

That's another one that I've seen mentioned. Thanks!

I don't know if he does trapezoid pickups, but I've heard great things about Nick Fryer's pickup rewinds. The sound examples he posts sound wonderful too.

Lindy Fralin did mine a few years back. The bobbin was replaced in the process. Par for the course, I am told.

Thanks for the tips. I kinda figure that the bobbin's gonna get replaced. At over 60 years old, that fiber's probably pretty much impossible to save, during disassembly.

Tom Brantley rebuilt the bobbin on a K&F boxcar for me. Really good work, really good price.

I heard Lindy doesn't do them anymore. Might be worth asking, but don't be surprised if he passes.

I've had Tom Brantley do 3 different trapezoids for me. All came out great. Very fair price. Just be aware he's busy so it won't be super fast.

Tom Brantley used to work for Lindy, so you know he knows what he is doing.

Tom reworked an old Rickenbacher horseshoe for me--did a great job, and he was quick.
