Have any of you tried a Peavey KB model amp for lap steel? I have had an opportunity to play through a KB75 and a KB300. Both are significantly fatter and more mellow in tone than my Nashville 400 which I use with my Carter U-12 and my Sierra 8 string lap steel.

What do you think? I like it...plenty of power and good tone.\

I use a Peavy KB for fingerstyle on steel whether it's lap, D10 or my CG.
It gives a fuller sound with more emphasis on the lows.

I had a KB500 for awhile and sent it back. I bought it to run my POD through, which would provide the tone I wanted, and the KB500 would amplify it and not color the tone. It did an ok job at that (but not as good as my regular guitar amp at the time, a Boogie Mark 1 Reissue)

During the time I had the KB500 I also tried it just guitar-cable-KB500. It was lifeless. I tried lots of different EQ settings to no avail. I also tried it with my acoustic-electric Fishman-equipped Taylor. Didn't like it for that either.

In my opinion, this amp is not voiced correctly to amplify an electric guitar.

I got my Mom a fancy keyboard for her 99th b'day (she's well over a 100 now). Along with it, I bought a KB300. With 4 channels, each with controls, and a mike input, it has done a good job when I expected to have electric backup. Light and enough power for our rather large church. Usually, I put a Digitek RP100 between my steel(s) and this amp. --Everett
