This is a walk through of a tuning I've been working on. It is bare bones universal, with fundamental similarities to Bb6, in that it starts as a "6th" tuning and shifts into something closer to a "9th" tuning by raising the Major 3rds.

The range is comparable to Extended D9. The string guages are slightly heavier than extended E9. As such it sits between E9 and C6, tonally.

In this video I address all the changes on this simple S10 set up, and discuss how each change derives from the functions of E9 and C6.

The playability of this set up is smooth and the guitar is light! ( It is a recently converted 2010 Stage One that I have mostly played as E9 since Doug Earnest built it in 2010.)

Hopefully this is inspiring and informative for those like me, looking to explore, learn and experiment with hybrid tunings and alternative approaches.

Cheers,
Andy
