Steve, did you notice that there are still only holes for 6 string ball ends, although there are 8 tuners? |

Maybe the string spacing is because the additional bass strings were meant to be octaves like on a 12 string guitar? Hey, if Big Joe Williams put extra strings here and there on whatever he was playing at the time, why not a steel player? |

It's a shame, but it doesn't suprise me. A lot of yahoos cut, drilled, painted or otherwise butchered guitars back in the 60s and 70s. There was the guy who wanted to make his quad lighter so he routed out the underside. Then there was the guy who ripped his D-8 stringmaster apart and sold one half of it. I've seen vintage steel guitars with pots removed, wired direct, switches bypassed, and other various cob jobs. The one in this post is a real mess. It isn't even a worthy parts guitar. I guess some people are natural tinkerers. They need to cut, drill, and paint... even on a brand new guitar!

My guess is the Pad on the outer neck is because the guy had a gig at ,like, a tiny "piano bar"...( a steel guitar lounge so to speak) one or two lucky patron could sit and watch chin on hand, elbow on pad, sipping their drinks and feeding the tip Jar, as our hero played "Misty" and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"... maybe "One for my Baby"... |

"One for my Baby"? I think the guy who did this had more than a few for the road! |

Hey, there's STILL room to drill holes for at least 6 more tuning pegs! What a piece of junk! Someone actually paid $300.00 for it ? I think the first bid was more realistic...$1.00 JMHO |

Nope! Not the way it's strung, anyway. Besides, the pad looks to be an inch and a half higher that the strings!!! |

But kids, lets not forget......However, the pickup on this instrument sounds FANTASTIC!!
Sheesh.
Maybe even Jay Dee Emmons played this on a hit maybe from the 1960s or 1970s???.. is it a steal or what?
Seriously, is there a law that stops people from actually researching what crap they are actually selling? |

I just got a dual in that was chopped up but doesnt have the cool loafer. This one is made of mahogony and has been refinished black, anyone ever seen one made from that before? What color would the original finish have been? Did they do blonde over mahogony? |
